Senior Counselor

I believe that solutions begin and end with communication. Putting your business or policy challenge into simple language is the first step toward building a strategic communication plan that will clarify your message to your customers, your staff, your leadership and to the world. My years of experience as a journalist at a half dozen newspapers, and later with non-profit health care organizations, has centered on public policy and how it can help people make their lives better. If that is your mission, you will find me a ready partner.

I have strived to tell stories of transformation and purpose since I left the University of Colorado with my journalism degree. I worked at newspapers in Colorado and California — ranging from community weeklies to a major metropolitan daily. I moved into the non-profit health care industry in a time of tumult and change after the Affordable Care Act became law, and developed a specialty in health care policy communication. I had the privilege of working as director of communications at Connect for Health Colorado®, helping grow a scrappy start-up into its role as one of the country’s most successful and well-regarded state health insurance exchanges. My years in corporate communications with Kaiser Permanente Colorado gave me a solid grounding in some of the many challenges facing the industry, and a glimpse at the patient-centered advancements that are possible.
