A long time ago, a hospital CEO called to see if his PR director should be fired. Upon closer inspection and several deep conversations with the community, it was apparent that the PR director was the darling of the town, the hospital’s chief community ambassador.
Without hesitation, we suggested that the CEO keep his PR director but upgrade his communication strategies and tactics to be more in line with industry standards. Years later, shortly after the PR director retired, we received a call from the CEO thanking us for not throwing the baby out with the bath water. A simple communication audit was all he really needed to keep his marketing top-notch.
